Chichen Itza is one of the new seven wonders of the world. It is located in the Peninsula of Yucitan, Mexico.
It Is one of the most visited archaeological sites in Mexico with an estimated 1.2 million tourists visiting every year.
Our tour guide explained the interesting history of the site and we had the opportunity to do the famous “clap”.
If you clap in front of the staircase you will hear an echo that resembles the chirp of a quetzal bird.
Many years ago you could climb the stairs to the top but due to vandalism and other damage over the years this has now been closed off to the public.
