  • Full on 360 sets with gripping storytelling
  • 11 actor led shows with the finest and funniest of Scottish acting talent
  • State of the art theming and special effects
  • Two awesome underground rides
  • Laughs, screams and cutting edge storytelling

The Edinburgh Dungeon is an 80 minute journey through centuries of Scotland ‘s darkest history. Tours leave around 10 minutes apart and guided by a full cast of actors, you and your companions then move from show to show. You will laugh and scream as you encounter gripping storytelling, exciting rides and thrilling special effects. It’s based on real history and legend (minus the boring bits) where you come face-to-face with sinister characters from Scotland’s gruesome past, including murderous twosome Burke and Hare and Scottish legend Sawney Bean. Experience the disastrous effects of the plague in Street of Sorrows, the fearsome torture chamber and sense the ghostly presence of the Green Lady in 1715 Old Craig House.

You know you’re in for a good time when within the first few minutes you’re brought up to be judged in front of everyone for the act of dancing around naked and committing witch craft to find a man.  As the judge, said I can’t be that good of a witch as I ended up with my husband 😉 (I jest he’s OK).   What will you be judged for? Crimes against fashion? Witch craft? or Being from Dundee?!  Whatever it is you will have to accept your punishment!

Be prepared to learn, laugh and jump in fear as you watch each new show.  The actors, sets and costumes are some of the best I’ve seen in a walk through tour, and even though I spend my Halloweens as a scarer in a haunted house and I should know what to expect, I screamed a good few times!   Especially when visiting the Green Lady.

Learn about life in Scotland a few hundred years ago and some of the horror legends, see some “unusual” torture devices and take a boat trip.  This and so much more is waiting for you in Edinburgh Dungeons.

Also keep an eye out for some special events coming up over the year – such as the Murder Mystery event in August which I’ll hopefully be getting myself tickets for!

Edinburgh Dungeons needs to make it onto your Edinburgh bucket list.  It is just a two minute walk from the train station so make it your first stop.  To find out about opening times and book your tickets click here.

Is Edinburgh Dungeons on your bucket list?
