I love a hop on, hop off tour! It’s one of my favourite ways to see a new place. Spend as little or as long as you like at a stop, then back on the bus to the next place you want to go. In Vancouver we chose to do this with The Vancouver Trolley Company. Vancouver’s only fleet of San Francisco type trolley cars.
There are two routes, the green and the red. Your ticket gives you access to both. All buses provide a live commentary along the way.
We first got on the green line from outside our hotel at Canada place. This took us around the west end of Vancouver. Passing stops at the aquarium, the totem poles and English Bay. We hopped off at False Creek Ferries.
Here we used a free ferry pass that was provided to us on the bus to get over to Granville Island.
Granville Island, is a place for locals and tourists. There are is a large market place providing food, drinks and hand made items to purchase. We picked up a some hand made dog biscuits at the pet store for my mums dog, Nala 🙂
Once you’ve spent some time here you can jump on the red line trolley. Here you can choose stops such as the Maritime Museum, Science World or the Police Museum.
We got off at The Spaghetti Factory in Gas Town and spent a few hours enjoying some lunch, and browsing the local shops.
A 1 day fare costs:
|1 Day Fare
Adult (19 – 64)
Youth (13 -18)
Child (4 -12)
As I mentioned above, we were handed a coupon book when we first got onto the bus. As well as the free ferry pass to Granville Island, it offers discounts off some local shops and restaurants.
Vancouver Trolley offer a number of other tours which include:
- The Stanley Park Shuttle
