York Dungeons

As a massive lover of The Dungeons, If there’s a Dungeons in a city I’m going to, I make sure to visit.

So far I’ve visited the sites in Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Berlin and San Francisco (now closed).

So on my recent trip to York, of course I had to visit.

“The York Dungeon brings together an amazing cast of theatrical actors, special effects, stages and scenes.

We love it. We know you will too. Here’s why:

  • Walkthrough 10 live actor shows, telling the story of 2000 years of York’s dark history
  • Enjoy specially designed sets, special effects and gripping storytelling from our professional cast
  • Meet famous characters from York’s dark past including Vikings, Isabella Billington and Guy Fawkes!
  • Survive the witch in the York Castle Dungeon: the scariest show in Dungeon history!
  • Laugh and scream as you experience surprises walking through the depths of the Dungeon”

As a lover of all things horror, immersive experiences, props and costumes, The Dungeons give me all of these in one experience.

Walk through each of the rooms to a new interactive experience – from vikings to witches. In each room, there is the possibility of being pulled up by one of the characters and becoming one yourself. On the day I was in a group of around 10, so got picked a few times, once to be beheaded, and once locked in a cage. But I made it out – so don’t worry.

The full experience lasts around 75 minutes, which really is the perfect amount of time.

Whilst The Dungeons can be dark and “scary” in some areas, I still would say this is an excellent experience even for children.

Booking online in advance gives you a discount on tickets, and there are also options to book a Dungeon and Sightseeing Bus Tour package, or the Dungeon Lates experience.

As of yet, I’ve not visited the over 18’s experience. But it’s something I’ll make sure to do soon 🙂

As always, I loved my experience at the Dungeons, and as you can tell by how often I’ve been now, it’s something that I really enjoy and would highly recommend to anyone.

*I was a guest of York Dungeons, but as always all opinions are my own*
